La Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) a en cours d’élaboration une application Web destinée à proposer une sélection des reliures françaises conservées dans ses collections. Il n’y a en effet actuellement aucun instrument mis à la disposition du public qui permette de connaître ou d’accéder, en tant que tel, à ce fonds unique, l’un des plus importants au monde.Concernant la création du modèle descriptif des reliures, le choix technique de la BnF s’est porté, parmi les langages XML disponibles, sur la TEI (Text Encoding Initiative). Le schéma élaboré a pour principal objectif d’aider à l’identification des reliures par des recherches ciblées sur leurs éléments caractéristiques, mais il s’attache aussi à retracer l’historique des reliures étudiées. Cette base de reliures prend donc de fait en compte, par les modes d’interrogation proposés, tout un ensemble de critères matériels d’identifications propres à mettre en évidence l’histoire de bibliothèques ou de collections aujourd’hui dispersées, au sein de la BnF ou en dehors.The Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) is currently preparing a Web application destined to offer a selection of the French bindings from its collections. There is indeed at present no means of providing readers with information or access to this unique collection, one of the largest in the world. The BnF has decided to adopt, from amongst the XML options available, the TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) for the descriptive model of the bindings data.The schema aims mainly to help in the identification of bindings by means of searches targeting their characteristic elements, but tracing their history is also an important consideration. This bindings database therefore takes into account, through the search methods which it offers, a wide set of material identification criteria suitable for bringing to light the history of libraries or collections now dispersed, whose constitutive items are to be found today in the collections of the BnF and elsewhere.
