La Biblioth{\`e}que nationale de France a acquis en 2013 un ensemble de vingt-deux photographies et plusieurs manuscrits de Georges Rocher qui entreprit dans les ann{\'e}es 1890 de remonter aux sources d{\textquoteright}inspiration normandes de Gustave Flaubert pour son roman\ Madame Bovary. {\`A} l{\textquoteright}appui de la publication de son enqu{\^e}te, il r{\'e}alise des photographies sur le terrain, preuves de l{\textquoteright}existence de personnages de fiction. Cette pratique {\'e}tonnante, o{\`u} le document photographique t{\'e}moigne d{\textquoteright}un roman se pr{\'e}sente comme un cas d{\textquoteright}{\'e}cole passionnant et in{\'e}dit.

The French National Library acquired in 2013 twenty-two photographs and some manuscripts of Georges Rocher. He undertook at the end of the 1890{\textquoteright}s to reveal the true sources of Gustave Flaubert for his novel\ Madame Bovary. Along his text, he presents photographs, to prove the existence of fictional characters. This surprising use, where photography testifies a novel, seems a thrilling textbook case.
